Break It Off will close on 12/22/21.

I slipped, now what?

So, you slipped up

Getting over any addiction is hard, and nicotine is one of the most addictive chemicals in the world. Slip-ups are normal. If it happens to you, here’s what you need to do:

Understand why it happened

Look at the reasons why you had that smoke. Was it stress? Were the cravings too much? Were you out with friends and unprepared? Think about the events that led to the slip-up and plan for the next time you’re in that situation, or try other quit methods.

A slip or a slide?

It can be hard to tell the difference between a single slip-up and a return to old ways, especially if you smoke infrequently. As long as you still have the resolve to stick to your quit plan, it’s probably just a slip. Dust yourself off and try again.

Get back on track

The most important part of any quit plan is not giving up. Take these steps to get back on track:

1. Change your routine to avoid any possible temptation

2. Get support from people you trust

3. Connect with a quit coach or create a new Quit Plan
